3-Day Student Desert Trip from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert of Merzouga
This 3-day student desert trip is carefully designed to combine adventure, cultural discovery, geography, and meaningful group bonding. It offers students the opportunity to explore Morocco beyond the classroom to see landscapes they have studied, meet local communities, and experience the magic of the Sahara in a safe and well-organized environment.
We prioritize safety, comfort, and educational value, while keeping the program affordable and suitable for school and university groups.
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Aït Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
The 3-day student desert trip begins early in the morning from Marrakech, where students meet their professional driver and board a comfortable private minibus. As the group leaves the city behind, the road climbs into the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains, offering dramatic scenery, winding roads, and panoramic viewpoints. Along the way, there are planned stops to stretch, take photos, and learn about Berber mountain villages and traditional lifestyles.
A major highlight of the day is the visit to Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking through this ancient fortified village gives students a real sense of Morocco’s caravan history and traditional earthen architecture. It’s an engaging and educational experience that connects history, culture, and geography in a tangible way.
After lunch, the journey continues through Ouarzazate and the Valley of Roses before arriving in the Dades Valley. Students settle into a comfortable, group-friendly hotel, enjoy dinner together, and rest after a full and inspiring first day.
Overnight in Dades Valley (dinner included).
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Desert Camp
After breakfast, the group travels toward the spectacular Todra Gorges, where towering rock walls rise dramatically on either side of a narrow canyon. Students can walk through the gorge, observe the geological formations, and enjoy the fresh air and peaceful atmosphere.
The journey continues deeper into southern Morocco as the landscape gradually changes into wide desert plains. By late afternoon, the first golden dunes of Merzouga appear on the horizon — an unforgettable moment for many students seeing the Sahara for the first time.
For safety and comfort, the group reaches the desert camp by 4×4 vehicle. At the camp, students are welcomed with traditional hospitality. As the sun sets over the dunes, the desert becomes calm and magical. In the evening, everyone gathers for a traditional Moroccan dinner followed by Berber music around the campfire. Away from city lights, the sky fills with stars — creating a powerful and memorable group experience.
Overnight in a supervised desert camp (shared student tents).
Day 3: Sunrise in the Sahara – Return to Marrakech
Students wake up early to witness the sunrise over the Sahara dunes — a peaceful and unforgettable moment as the colors of the sand shift with the morning light. After breakfast at the camp, the group begins the return journey toward Marrakech.
The drive offers time for reflection, group conversations, and enjoying the changing landscapes once again as the road climbs back into the Atlas Mountains. Arrival in Marrakech is expected in the evening, marking the end of a meaningful adventure filled with discovery, learning, and shared memories.
