This 3-day Morocco Student Trip from Marrakech to Merzouga is designed for educational groups seeking a unique combination of learning, cultural discovery, and adventure. Students will travel through the High Atlas Mountains, visit historic kasbahs, discover traditional Berber communities, explore oasis valleys, and experience the spectacular Sahara Desert.
The tour provides valuable insight into Morocco’s geography, history, architecture, culture, and desert ecosystems. Along the way, students will learn about traditional lifestyles, ancient trade routes, and the importance of sustainable living in desert regions.
The highlight of the trip is the Sahara Desert experience, where students will enjoy a camel trek through the dunes of Erg Chebbi and spend a memorable night in a desert camp under the stars.
Driving distance: approx. 200 km
Departure from Marrakech in the morning. Travel through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters above sea level. Along the way, students will discover traditional Berber villages and learn about mountain life and local culture.
Continue to the famous Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s best-preserved fortified villages. Students will explore its ancient alleys while learning about architecture, history, and the importance of caravan trade routes.
After lunch, continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Time permitting, visit Taourirt Kasbah and learn about southern Moroccan history.

After breakfast, travel through the beautiful Draa Valley, home to thousands of palm trees and traditional oasis villages. Students will learn about oasis agriculture, water management systems, and desert communities.
Continue through Agdz, Alnif, and Rissani, one of Morocco’s most important historical trading centers. Visit the traditional market and learn about the ancient caravan routes that once connected Morocco to sub-Saharan Africa.
Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon. Students will enjoy a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi while watching the sunset over the Sahara Desert.
In the evening, enjoy traditional music and dinner at the desert camp.

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the Sahara dunes before breakfast. Depart Merzouga and travel towards the spectacular Todra Gorges, where students can explore one of Morocco’s most impressive natural sites and learn about geological formations and canyon ecosystems.
Continue through Tinghir and the Valley of Roses before crossing the High Atlas Mountains once again. Along the route, students will enjoy scenic stops and discussions about Morocco’s diverse landscapes and regional cultures.
