On the second day of our 5-day Morocco desert tour, we’ll be swapping the vibrant energy of Marrakech for the tranquil beauty of the south. Our first stop? The stunning Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site that’s been the backdrop for epic films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After soaking in the sights, we’ll head to Ouarzazate, where we can peek behind the curtain at its famous film studios and wander through the historic kasbah of Tourirt.
Next, we’ll journey through the lush palm groves of Skoura Oasis, making a pit stop to explore the iconic Amridil Kasbah. This is a breathtaking example of Berber architecture that seems to emerge from the very earth.
As we continue our drive, the air will be filled with the sweet scent of the Roses Valley, and just a few miles later, we’ll arrive at the stunning Dades Valley. Here, we’ll spend the night surrounded by nature’s wonders, with breathtaking rock formations, towering cliffs, and charming Berber villages all around us.
On today’s journey we will be seeking the breathtaking Sahara Desert! But first, we’ll soak in the stunning morning light that bathes the dramatic cliffs of the Dades Valley in warm hues of gold and orange. After a hearty breakfast, we’ll set off toward the awe-inspiring Todra Gorges, a natural marvel sculpted by the Todra River. The towering cliffs on either side create a serene oasis that climbers and nature enthusiasts adore.
As we leave the mountains behind, we’ll make our way to Erfoud, a town renowned for its ancient fossils and its ties to the Sahara. Here, you’ll have the chance to discover the region’s intriguing geological history and see how locals transform fossils into stunning works of art.
In the afternoon, we’ll arrive at the mesmerizing golden dunes of Merzouga. Next, we’ll meander through the bustling souks of the old Medina, where the vibrant colors of spices, unique handmade crafts, and the lively sounds of haggling create an unforgettable atmosphere. Then, we’ll step into the renowned Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
