Your adventure begins with a guided walking tour of Fes, one of Morocco’s oldest and most fascinating imperial cities. Explore the UNESCO-listed Fes el-Bali medina, visit Al Quaraouiyine University, Bou Inania Madrasa, Nejjarine Fountain, and the famous tanneries. Discover traditional souks, historic monuments, and local craftsmanship. Overnight in a traditional riad in Fes.
After breakfast, depart Fes toward the Sahara Desert. Pass through Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and the cedar forests of Azrou, home to Barbary macaques. Continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains and the scenic Ziz Valley. Arrive in Merzouga, where you will enjoy a camel ride or 4×4 transfer to your desert camp. Dinner and overnight in the desert under the stars.
Today is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga region and Erg Chebbi dunes. Visit nomad families, the village of Khamlia to enjoy Gnawa music, and enjoy free time on the dunes. Optional activities include quad biking, sandboarding, or a 4×4 desert excursion. Enjoy sunset and sunrise over the dunes. Dinner and overnight in a desert camp or hotel.
After breakfast, depart Merzouga toward Rissani, an important historical trading center, and continue to Erfoud, known for fossils and marble workshops. Drive to the impressive Todra Gorge, with its towering canyon walls. Continue through scenic landscapes to the Dades Valley, famous for its rock formations and kasbahs. Dinner and overnight in a hotel or riad in Dades Valley.
On the final day, drive through the Valley of Roses and the palm groves of Skoura. Visit Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” then continue to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass and arrive in Marrakech in the evening, marking the end of your desert tour.
