Start in Agadir, finish in Marrakech

A private 9-day tour from Agadir through the Sahara to Marrakech and the Atlantic coast — Dades, Todra, two nights in Merzouga, Aït Ben Haddou, Marrakech and Essaouira.
Our 9-Day Morocco Tour from Agadir is a private journey through southern Morocco, the Sahara Desert, Marrakech and the Atlantic coast.
The tour begins in Agadir and travels inland through Taroudant and Taliouine to Ouarzazate, then through the Valley of Roses, Dades Valley and Todra Gorge before reaching the golden dunes of Merzouga.
You spend two nights around the Sahara — one at a desert camp and one at a hotel or riad — giving you a complete day to explore Erg Chebbi by 4×4, visit Khamlia, listen to Gnawa music, try sandboarding and discover more about life around the desert.
After the Sahara, travel through the Draa Valley, visit Aït Ben Haddou and cross the High Atlas to Marrakech. A guided day introduces the old city before the journey continues west to Essaouira on the Atlantic coast, finishing back in Marrakech — a varied nine-day route combining mountains, desert, historic cities and coast.

Your private Morocco tour begins with morning pickup from your hotel, Agadir Airport or another agreed location. Leave the Atlantic coast and travel inland to Taroudant, an old walled town surrounded by fertile countryside with views towards the Atlas Mountains, with time to see part of its historic centre and traditional market. Continue to Taliouine, a region known for saffron production, with a lunch stop, then through the changing landscapes of southern Morocco — mountain scenery, small villages and increasingly dry terrain — towards Ouarzazate, with photography and refreshment stops along the way. Arrive in Ouarzazate in the late afternoon or evening and check into your hotel or riad. Overnight: Ouarzazate. Approx. driving: 370 km / around 6 hours excluding stops.
After breakfast, spend some time in Ouarzazate, a main gateway to southern Morocco — see Taourirt Kasbah from outside or visit a film studio. Continue to the Skoura palm oasis, where old kasbahs and villages sit among large palm groves, then follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs towards Kelaat M'Gouna and the Valley of Roses. Today's shorter distance gives more time to stop and enjoy the landscapes. Continue into the Dades Valley, stopping at viewpoints over the valley, traditional villages and unusual rock formations, with the option to explore farther into the Dades Gorge before reaching your hotel or riad for dinner. Overnight: Dades Valley. Meals: breakfast & dinner.
After breakfast, leave Dades for Tinghir, where the landscape becomes greener approaching its extensive palm oasis, then continue to Todra Gorge with time to walk beside the river between the high limestone cliffs. Continue through Tinjdad with a lunch stop, then through Erfoud towards Merzouga as the large golden Erg Chebbi dunes appear on the horizon. Meet your camel guide and ride across the dunes in the late afternoon, stopping for the sunset before continuing to your Sahara camp for dinner and traditional music — away from city lights, the desert also offers excellent conditions for seeing the night sky. Overnight: Merzouga desert camp. Meals: breakfast & dinner.
Wake early if you'd like to watch sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes, then after breakfast begin a full day dedicated to the Merzouga region. Travel by private 4×4 around Erg Chebbi along desert tracks through landscapes most travellers don't see on a simple overnight camp visit. Stop in Khamlia, known for its Gnawa musical traditions, with time to listen to local musicians; when conditions allow, continue across the desert to meet a nomadic family and learn respectfully about everyday life. After lunch, return towards Merzouga — the afternoon can be used for relaxing, photography, sandboarding or an optional quad-bike or buggy excursion — and finish with another sunset near the dunes before checking into your hotel or riad. Overnight: Merzouga hotel or riad. Meals: breakfast. Included: private Erg Chebbi 4×4 tour.
After breakfast, leave Merzouga for Rissani, historically an important commercial centre for the surrounding desert; if your visit falls on a market day you may see part of the traditional souk before continuing towards Alnif. The journey crosses broad rocky landscapes and small settlements before reaching the Draa Valley, one of Morocco's largest palm-oasis regions, where long stretches of palms follow the river. Travel through traditional villages with viewpoint stops over the oasis — a quieter look at southern Morocco — before reaching Agdz and your riad, guesthouse or kasbah-style accommodation. Overnight: Agdz / Draa Valley. Meals: breakfast & dinner.
After breakfast, leave the Draa Valley and travel north towards Ouarzazate, then on to Aït Ben Haddou. Explore the historic ksar on foot — walk through its narrow passages, see its traditional earthen buildings and climb towards the higher part of the village for views over the valley. After lunch, continue towards the High Atlas Mountains along the winding Tizi n'Tichka road, with stops at mountain viewpoints and villages, as the landscapes change considerably before descending towards Marrakech. Arrive in the late afternoon or evening and check into your riad; the rest of the evening is free to walk to Jemaa el-Fna, have dinner or relax. Overnight: Marrakech. Meals: breakfast.
After breakfast, meet your local guide and spend the day discovering Marrakech on foot. Explore the old medina and learn about the city's history, architecture and daily life; depending on the final program, the walking tour can include Bahia Palace and the Koutoubia area along with the narrow streets and traditional neighbourhoods of the old city. Continue into Marrakech's famous souks, where different sections specialise in leather, spices, lamps, carpets and metalwork, with your guide helping you understand the medina rather than only its busiest streets. The guided portion normally finishes around Jemaa el-Fna, leaving the afternoon and evening free for shopping, relaxing or exploring independently. Overnight: Marrakech. Meals: breakfast.
After breakfast, leave Marrakech and travel west towards the Atlantic coast, passing open countryside where argan trees are common, with stops along the way before arriving in Essaouira — a relaxed coastal city with a very different atmosphere from Marrakech and the Sahara. After checking into your riad, explore the historic medina on foot: its narrow streets, artisan shops and white-and-blue buildings, the old ramparts and the fishing port. The afternoon stays flexible — fresh seafood near the harbour, a walk along the beach or time browsing local workshops and galleries — and the evening is free to enjoy the quieter medina. Overnight: Essaouira. Meals: breakfast. Approx. driving: 190 km / around 3 hours excluding stops.
Enjoy breakfast and a relaxed morning in Essaouira. Depending on your departure time, there can be more time to walk through the medina, visit the fishing harbour, enjoy the beach or do final shopping. Later, meet your private driver for the return journey to Marrakech through the argan countryside, with refreshment stops as needed, arriving in Marrakech in the afternoon or evening. Your tour ends with drop-off at your Marrakech hotel, riad, airport or another agreed location; if your flight is early, the itinerary can be adjusted so you return to Marrakech the previous evening. End of tour: Marrakech. Meals: breakfast.

This itinerary takes you from the Atlantic region of Agadir through the Sahara and back to the coast at Essaouira — a real variety of landscapes in one route.
You don't leave the Sahara immediately after your first night. A complete extra day allows you to explore the region around Erg Chebbi by 4×4.
Marrakech is treated as a destination rather than simply an overnight stop between the desert and coast, with a guided day in the old city.
The scenery changes constantly: Atlantic landscapes, mountains, kasbah valleys, rocky desert, Sahara dunes, palm oases, High Atlas passes, the Marrakech medina and Essaouira's coast. The tour is private throughout, with flexibility for reasonable stops along the way.
A hotel, traditional riad or kasbah-style accommodation.
A comfortable hotel or riad in the Dades Valley, with dinner and breakfast.
A private tent at a Sahara camp near Erg Chebbi, including dinner and breakfast.
A hotel or riad near the dunes after your full-day desert excursion.
A traditional riad, guesthouse or kasbah-style property among the Draa Valley palm groves.
A traditional riad or hotel with easy access to Marrakech's main attractions.
A traditional riad in or close to Essaouira's medina. Accommodation can be arranged in different categories according to your preferred comfort level and budget.
The point-to-point design avoids unnecessary backtracking and works particularly well if you arrive through Agadir and depart from Marrakech.
Summer days can be extremely hot, particularly in June and July, while winter nights can be cold — bring warm clothing for evening and early-morning desert activities. Camel riding is optional (a 4×4 transfer is available at the same price).
The Atlantic coast can be windy and noticeably cooler than Marrakech and Merzouga, so a light jacket can be useful even when inland temperatures are warm.
Quad bikes or buggies can be arranged in Merzouga during the full desert day at an additional cost, and entrance fees to monuments and museums are separate unless stated. Because this is a private tour, accommodation categories, selected activities and some overnight locations can be adapted to your plans.
